booklet looks at the social and environmental
impact of the production and use of energy.
Its aim is to increase awareness of the
social and environmental aspects of energy
use through the provision of a fuller
range of analysis of the statistics that
the DTI and others issue on a regular
basis. The booklet covers the evolution
of the social and environmental impacts
over recent years. It examines the key
influences on the trends in the figures,
including the interaction between economic,
social and environmental trends. It looks
at how Government policies have developed
to limit the environmental damage that
can be associated with the use of energy
whilst, at the same time, ensuring that
consumers can enjoy its benefits at an
affordable cost. Chapter 6 deals with fuel poverty.
