Domestic Energy Efficiency Primer
(Good
Practice Guide171)
Published
by the Housing Energy Efficiency Best
Practice Programme. This Guide is designed
to help you with enquiries from clients
about either home improvements or building
problems. In the case of home improvements,
measures to improve energy efficiency
are often cheaper if they are installed
when other building work is carried
out. Where there are building problems
there is often an opportunity to use
energy efficient solutions in order
to provide the added benefit of reducing
the client’s fuel bills and improving
comfort.
Energy
white paper – Our energy future
-
creating a low carbon economy
Published by Dti in 2003. This defines
a long-term strategic vision for energy
policy combining environmental, security
of supply, competitiveness and social
goals. Because energy requires very
long-term investment it looks ahead
to 2050. It sets out the challenges
the UK faces on the environment, the
decline of its indigenous energy supplies
and the need to update its energy infrastructure
and the policies needed to meet these
challenges.
Sustainable
communities in the North East – Building
for the future
Published by the Office of the Deputy
Prime minister in 2003. It is an action
plan to build successful, thriving and
inclusive communities where people
want to live.
This regional plan sets out proposals
for implementing the national plan
of action in the North East. It does
not attempt to cover all the issues
of importance to communities. It highlights
actions to address housing, planning
and neighbourhood renewal issues.
North
East Biomass Mapping Exercise
Prepare
for the environmental Industries Federation
for One Northeast 2003.
The objective of the regional biomass
mapping exercise has been to understand
the current activity, knowledge and
interest in the use of biomass for
energy production.
The report presents the results which
will then form a baseline from which
a strategy for the emerging biomass
industry can be developed and progress
measured.

The revised
definition and guidance for implementation
The
revised definition and guidance for implementation
Published by DTLR in 2002. The first
version of the guidance was issued in
July 2001. This revised guidance covers
the same ground but clarifies queries
from the first draft. It includes a new
section on implementing the standard
in the context of the investment plans.
It also provides the detailed description
of the amended thermal comfort criterion.
